Weekends of Fun

A couple of weekends ago we went to the cabin and daughter #1 came up with one of their dogs and our sweet Snicklefritz.  Her Hubby stayed in town to care for their elderly dog, my darling Mondo.
It was a spectacular weekend and the creek was finally swimable for everyone.

Last weekend daughter #2 came up with her hubby and our precious Min-Min.  She is nearly 11 months old, taking a few tentative steps and gives out hugs willingly.  Oh my, I so love my grandbabies.
The creek was still perfect for a quick dip in the coldness and it was Min-Min's first time.  She LOVED it.  The mornings were also absolutely chilly and I was able to have a fire to warm myself, wait, it's August in Oklahoma, there is something wrong with that statement.  Oh well, it was wonderful.

And it is still so green, IN AUGUST!!!
Poor dead trees, the result of a lot of flooding the past couple of years.

Monarch alert!!!

Oh, these babies have my absolute heart.  Love them so very much.

Water Of All Kinds

It's raining.  Yup this morning it is raining.  Sounds awesome.  Think I will go to the screened porch for a bit this morning and enjoy the pitter-patter of the raindrops on the metal roof.

We've had a very quiet weekend here at the cabin.  Friday night we had dinner at PH's and she fixed a most delicious dinner, and it fit right in with our diet.  She made chicken breasts that were filled with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon.  The veggie was spaghetti squash casserole au gratin that was to die for.

Yesterday afternoon I bit the bullet and went to the creek and SAT in the creek.  I'm just not one who does the creek anymore so this was kind of big.  When a kiddo I, we, my bro and sis, absolutely lived in the lake or creek, but I think the stupid movie JAWS ruined me on bodies of water that you can't see the bottom of.  There are critters in them waters!
So Saturday afternoon, a rather hot afternoon, I joined a few friends and sat in the softly flowing creek and enjoyed the coolness.  I also sat on the creekbank and sketched a bit too.  It was quite pleasant.

Here's to wonderful times spent with friends!

Hanging of the Bras

This weekend was the 4th Annual Hanging of the Bras!  We were missing a few but it was still an awesome weeknd and we've already begun talking about next year, #5.

Memories of past years...

I didn't take many pictures this year but made sure to get one of me and my wonderful cousin.

Aluminum Boat and Lightening

Another ride on the pontoon boat.  Here are the facts:

  • 2 pontoon boats
  • Beer, lots of beer
  • long ride to see fireworks on the water
  • 8 young adults that have already spent the day in the water with said beer
  • 9 adults, tired adults
  • "Storm is approaching," the lake patrol said, "keep watch for lightening cause you're in an aluminum boat."
  • Beautiful fireworks
  • Dead boat battery after the fireworks show with impending lightening
Need I say more!

My 4th of July in Review

Last night was the 4th of July fireworks show here at our getaway from the world. Thank goodness all The Hubby has to do is hand over a check and coordinate. I told him that he needs to not do it anymore as he is tired of the responsibility. He agrees and hopefully we won't even have to be here next year. I am not happy with all the people and craziness that goes with it all. Thankfully the rain kept it to a minimum.
Today the purple hull peas I shelled on Friday night are slowly simmering on the stove with a little bacon fat, onion and jalepeno salt.  It should be yummy with the smoked pork tenderloin The Hubby is preparing and our fresh tomatoes that I picked as soon as we arrived.
Yesterday this is where my bootie plopped itself down and spent the entire day while it rained and rained.
My view was just awesome as I finished Sizzling Sixteen by Janet Evanovich and started Eat, Love, Pray and journaled in my hand written journal.
This morning I was up early with a sleep-in kind of headache but a good strong cup of coffee helped to make it vanish.  I journaled some more, read and showered.  Then I felt the need to take a golf cart ride around the grounds to see if any of the fireworks debris was still around.  Someone got up very, very early and cleaned up all the mess.  Down by the boat ramp I found two pontoon boats ready for the water.  I've been on them before for sunset cruises and a couple of weekends ago an all day event.  They are ready and waiting for the next excursion and hopefully the rain will stay at bay.  A bunch is planning on going to Whitehorn Cove to watch their fireworks celebration tonight and having a cookout on the boat.  I plan on staying nice and comfy in front of my TV.
More sights on my early morning golf cart ride.  I like this picture and may try to incorporate it into a painting.
Poor little Clayton watching me take off in the golf cart.  He so loves to ride and have The Hubby, his best bud, take him to the meadow to run till his hearts content.  The little guy has a problem though as he over heats very quickly.  On Friday evening The Hubby took him on a run and they found a part of the creek to stand in the cool running water.  He laid down in it and loved the rush of coolness on his overheated belly.  I so love this little guy and had no idea how much he would enrich our lives (I probably said this before).

I almost forgot to say something about this...

Remember  I wrote in May about the prothonotary warbler that had nested in our nest on the porch, well we got so lucky on Friday evening to see the two babies peak their heads out and fly.  Oh my goodness it was so awesome to see that.  Hopefully the little couple will hatch another brood before the summer is over.

Happy Father's Day

Yesterday we celebrated with a surprise for The Hubby.  Our youngest, A, the one who lives in California, came home and surprised him for Father's Day.  He had no idea.  We hadn't seen our baby since Thanksgiving so we were all very excited.  I set it up to meet at Kilkenny's on Cherry Street, the BIL and partner, the MIL, B&B, me and The Hubby.  We were all seated except for the SIL, B, as he had A in the car waiting for all to sit.  Then she walked in the door and The Hubby was shocked and very excited to see his baby.  She will be here for 10 glorious days, for Father's Day, her 25th birthday and B's Alliday Show next weekend.  Perfect timing for her to be home.  The 10 days will be filled with lots of family fun, laughter and love.

This weekend The Hubby and I of course ventured to the cabin, heat and all.  Friday night was BBQ at one of the cabinites.  It was a nice evening of friends, laughter and food.  My kind of night.  Saturday I was all settled in for a day on the porch, ceiling fan on high, book in hand and lots of cool drinks.  Plans do change though and I was talked into joining pontoon boat group.  I found a bathing suit (found it was a tad big!), old sunscreen, book, glasses, beverages and we were off for what I was told a 4 hour cruise...I was told wrong.  We did not get home until about 9:30.  I really had a great time but was worried about poor little Clayton.  He eats at 5 and 5 everyday and it was 8 hours inside without a potty break.  Really worried, but he was just fine when we got back and very glad to see us.  The day on the boat was fun and I was a brave girl and jumped into the water twice.  I'm not a lake kind of girl anymore, used to be when I was young girl but I have to tell you the movie Jaws kind ruined it for me.  I also was plagued with swimmers ear when I would go to the lake as a girl, every single time we went so I am a little gun shy.  Even now my ears are a little wonky, have to get some drops in them.  The sunscreen, even though old did keep me safe except for a small area on my back, ouch.  I'm careful about the sun anymore, too many burns when I was little.  All in all this was an absolutely wonderful weekend.  How was yours!

Week in Review

This is a self portrait just before I left to go to my multi-class reunion last weekend.  I like it.  That was a fun day.

This week I've taken several days off from the office as I will a good part of the summer.  B is not teaching this summer so will be in the office!  I have been planning to paint but that has just not happened, yet.  I spent most of this week running a lot of errands and visiting with my BFF who has been dealing with cancer.  I stopped by and ended up staying 3 hours just talking.  It was very nice.  I went to the greenhouse for climbing roses for the trellis at the cabin and tomatoes for B&B's garden...I expect some tomatoes. ;)

This weekend The Hubby has gone to Minnesota for a flashlight show.  Several years ago, 1998, The Hubby and I hosted the first ever flashlight show in Tulsa and the paper even did an article on him.  In 2008, we hosted the 10th show here.  They have them every year and he loves to attend and feels an obligation to attend since he is the one who got the ball rolling.  I don't!  They're fun while they are here but I choose not to attend in other states.  We used to do lighter shows too, yes, cigarette lighters.  He has a collection of those too but has maxed out on it.  I prefer them as they are so beautiful, especially the trench art ones.  I have to say also that we do not smoke and never did but he collects them because it was an era, truly.

Anyway, I opted to head to the cabin this weekend and enjoy the wonderful weather that the weather people are predicting.  Unfortunately, they are predicting 90 degree weather and the A/C unit is acting up!  It's really not too bad with a fan on me.  Last night, with the windows open the air was very nice but the neighbors were not cooperating with the peace and quiet.  There are some here for a wedding at the wigwam and their cabin is full of people, lots and lots of people who do not understand the peace and quiet of our little heaven on earth.  We come here for no motor boats, birds singing, and communing with nature.  Last night I hit the pillow about 10 pm, woke with a start at 10:30 from a bad dream, back asleep at about 11:15 when I was jolted out of that wonderful sleep by fireworks.  FIREWORKS!!!!!  These were not little poppy things but huge boom, rattle the window kind by my neighbors.  They were actually being set off in the meadow but it was 11:15 PM!!!!!  Very quickly my other neighbor, Jimbo hopped onto his golf cart and flew down there to stop the insanity!!!!!  Three boys from the wedding neighbors.  Where in the world were the presumed grownups to stop this.  Teach these kids respect for people please.  Stupid!!!!!  I then could not drift off to sleep till after 1:30 and then was up at 5 to feed the dog and potty.  RATS!!!!!

Nicer thoughts now...

Yesterday I was sitting on the couch drifting off for a quick nap with I noticed the little ceramic birdhouse that a friend gave me a few years ago.  I hung it on the porch but it has remained empty, till now.  I noticed a bird popping in and out with little twigs and stuff for a nest.  YEAH!  There were actually two of them building and I realized that they were a Prothonotary Warbler, a pair.  They were preparing a nest on my porch.

Now my picture is not good as I did not want to disturb them....

So here is an Internet generated one...after reading the link
I find they quite fascinating and really lucky to have them on my porch.  Hope they stay!

I'm afraid it's happening again.

I'm really afraid it is happening again. I am not feeling the best today and I have zit on my chin, my glands in my neck are swollen, my ears are draining and now I have two lumpy things, one under each armpit. I so hope they don't turn out to be MRSA again. I am tired of fighting that crappy stuff. I'm hoping that I am just fighting a sinus infection or ear infection and the other stuff is a fluke of happenings. My allergies are acting weird so maybe that is all it is. I also feel blue, sad, down, non-friendly. This weekend I have just wanted to be by myself, not my jovial self. I want to sleep, which I slept till 8:30 this morning. We are at the cabin and it is glorious today. It is a bit breezy but the sun is warm and I am by myself at Harri's cabin deck. Unfortunately there is a downside to sitting outside in the fall, falling acorns. It's a good thing they haven't put down their deck umbrella or I would be black and blue. All the metal roofs around it sounds like hundreds of shots going off when the wind blows. The Hubby has gone fishing this morning at 6 am and won't be back till about noon. This weekend was full of festivities. Friday night we were invited to Sin and Bare's for a hamburger cookout which was fun. I had too much wine and ended up in bed by 9:30. Of course I had been up since 4:30 so the wine just made the bedtime sooner. Saturday I read a bit but Harri called me over to sit by her fire and visit and help her decorate her cabin fall like. So I spent the better part of yesterday over here visiting. I finally begged off saying I wanted to nap but I really wanted to watch TV, crochet and just veg out, which I did. Then last night was another gathering. Two cabins had recently been remodeled and were across the road from each other and so the inhabitants had open houses with tons of wonderful food. We gorged ourselves and enjoyed a lot of chatter with other cabinites but I was ready to be alone again by 8:30. We had been invited to Harri and Jimbo's and RM & Ed's but I just wasn't in the mood. The Hubby went over to Harri and Jimbo's for a bit but I just watched TV and crocheted the rest of the evening. I almost feel like I'm going to have that monthly visit. Of course the monthly has been absent since June so we'll see. I just feel like that in my head. Maybe that is all this is. I sure hope so.

I'm also dealing with the decision that I have made and have not yet fully put into action. The decision to quit or at least move places where I Jazzercise. It has weighed heavily on my head and heart this weekend as I just don't want to give up my girlfriends. That is what will happen eventually, even though we may try to stay together as a group it will happen. I've had it happen before and am very sad about it. My friend base just keeps dwindling and I am just in a deep depression about it. I just don't know what to do about it. Yes I have lots of friends but the old ones, ones that you have over many, many years I just don't have. I am jealous of other people who talk about their old college friends or high school friends and they still are in contact. Mine aren't. They don't want to be. I have had to forge new relationships in various organizations or places and then they seem to not last. I want a friendship to last through time. Gail would and was that kind of friendship but she is gone. My friend C, even though she feels it is just not there for me. My fairly new friends here at the cabin community are wonderful and we have great fun but they don't necessarily translate to deep friendships when the weekend is over. They have their own relationships that have been place for a long time. I'm 52 years old and don't have a best friend. That just makes me want to bawl. Wouldn't you want a friend like Lucy and Ethel, a friend that pops in for coffee or calls and wants to do lunch at least once a week, not once every 6 months. That is the kind of relationship I have left now and I am just distraught over that. When my mother was alive my sister and I and our children would descend up the old homestead every Saturday morning. We would either hang out there all day and cook, can, garden, go shopping and most assuredly go to lunch. It was awesome. But now Momma is gone and that tradition is gone. I am still not happy with Sis after the cat fiasco a few months ago and we just don't run in the same circles. Face it if we weren't sisters we would not be friends, just too different. You know even here at the cabin I am alone to an extent. Harri has Sin and when Sin is not here I am the replacement. Everyone has somebody that they pal around with. I usually sit at the cabin alone. Most of the time that is okay as that is what this place is for for me but sometimes I would like to be the person that is sought after. Don't get me wrong I make the trips around on my golf cart and visit with people a lot but I am not sought out by others to hang out with. I could take that as I'm just not a fun person or likeable but I do know that is not true. I am considered a very nice true person that everybody likes but I think I'm kind of generic. I know that sounds weird but I feel it. I know I'm whining but I'm lonely and all this pity party stuff is coming from I think hormones today, so sorry to those who are reading this crap.

The Hanging of the Bras

I'm back. I just did not have the desire last week to post, write, not a thing. I had a blockage with words. This morning I feel like I finally have the words to put to print but in this office I can't seem to find a quiet moment to type them. It is Monday morning here and it seems all the guys are still here at the office, not out in the field where they should be. I guess there are just too many things to gather up in the shop on their trucks and pipe to bend, etc. They need to get out and leave me to my thoughts please. While I was at the cabin with my girlfriends this weekend The Hubby caught up on some billing so my desk is knee deep in invoicing and I have to pay some bills.

Now back to the weekend, The Hanging of the Bras. What a wonderful weekend. The weather was AWESOME and the company was AWESOME. Friday afternoon I was able to get on the road about 1 pm with one of the girls following, Kat. We arrived, opened the cabin and then waited and waited. I really don't mind waiting, in fact if it is at the cabin that is just fine but that many hours with Kat is a little too much. Finding topics of conversation can be a little strained but we did okay. The other ladies finally started showing up about 6:30 and the party was on. There were 10 all together in attendance on Friday night with most of them leaving on Saturday afternoon leaving 3. I have all the ladies contribute $10 for food as I go by Olive Garden and get salad, lasagna and chicken scampi for our dinner with leftovers to eat on Saturday. I also made an fabulous egg casserole Friday morning for the next day. Then everyone else brings beverages (wine), snacks and sweets, there is not want for food. We ate dinner, laughed, cracked open about 6 bottles of wine and did the bus stop on the screened porch. Before we even had the first glass of wine the bras began coming off and were hanging on the string of party lights on the porch. Notice there are only seven bras, three of the ladies chose not to participate, party poopers. The laughter and dancing continued for me until I hit the sheets about 11:30. I just could not keep my eyes open after being up since 4:30. One of the ladies had a LOT to drink and they attempted to pour her into bed three times until she finally passed out about 2:30. What a party! It was great and I can't wait till next year. We've done it two years in a row, so far, with plans to continue. One of the ladies Desi, flies in from California to participate and it is her birthday. She used to be one of the Jazzercise ladies. The one downer for me was that I had to share a bed with Kat, my bed. Usually my cousin H shares with me but Kat wanted to get there early so she would have a bed and not the floor so it was my bed. Kat snores, not girl snores, guy snores. Oh my goodness, if I woke up at night it was non-stop snoring. She slept on her back the entire night and no amount of my jiggling the bed stopped her. PLEASE not next year, PLEASE!!! This probably explains the nap I took in the hammock and the nap I later took in my bed when she was gone. Good Grief!

Wonderful Saturday Morning

Good morning all! It is a most wonderful Saturday morning today. I'm here sitting on Harri's new deck using Grumps Internet connection and drinking in the morning air. It is cool, light jacket cool with a little fogginess in the air. The birds are singing the praises of the morning with a huge crow just overhead cawing, making my ears ring. Yesterday the trees were alive with the birds over Harri's deck fighting for dragonflies and mosquitoes getting ready for the winter cold. I'm here batching it this weekend as The Hubby is off to Ohio for a flashlight collectors show. It may end up being a mini girls weekend as Jimbo is golfing and Bare is not hear so Sin will be up with her best friend Ang, so mini girls weekend. Two girls weekends in a row! Next weekend is my Jazzy girls weekend here with 10 total counting myself. I have sleeping arrangements for 9 so one of the ladies will be sleeping on the floor, probably my cousin as she doesn't mind at all. One of the ladies is flying in from California for the happenin'.

This post is a little disjointed as I'm trying to write in-between yaking with Harri. I can't seem to get a sentence written the way I would like it to be but it is what it is. Today I'll probably spend most of my time talking here and then trying to read more on my book Edgar Sawtelle.

Monday Ramble

I had a wonderful workout at Jazzercise this morning. This the first full workout without leaving because of nauseousness or lightheadedness or no energy since I got the "virus" in July. I feel great. The antibiotic I'm on now I think is finally working.
_____________________________________________________________________
I had to be at the office earlier than usual because B is back to teaching at TCC, her ESL classes on Monday and Wednesday. I have used all of my free time at home while she was out for the summer. She is teaching and taking classes and on Saturday she takes her "Comps" for her master's. She is very stressed but I so admire her doing all she is doing. She had better before they "possibly" decide to have children someday. Now she is talking about going for her PhD. WOW!
_____________________________________________________________________
The weekend was very nice and quiet at the lake. I really didn't get too much reading done. Sometimes I just lose interest and that is not good with the huge book I'm reading now, "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle". I spent most of Saturday knitting and watching "The Bucket List" with The Hubby. Loved the movie.
_____________________________________________________________________
Friday night high school football games started and I was oh so very happy that Broken Arrow stomped the daylights out of Union Friday, 24-9 ending a 22 game losing streak! YEE HAW! (Can you guess I'm a BA fan and alumni! So was my Daddy.)
____________________________________________________________________
Guess I will get to work today. Kind of lonely here today, Monday's usually are. I have a couple of invoices to type up and a quote, pay a few bills then NOTHING. Guess I'll spend the day playing ClubPOGO and reading blogs!

Labor Day

Tomorrow is Labor Day and I will spend it here at the lake doing nothing of the sort. It has been a very nice weekend so far. Quiet and the weather sort of okay. Yesterday a weird thunderstorm came up and I was caught at a friends cabin on my golf cart. The lightening was scary and we were on their front porch so I opted to chance it an high-tail it back to the cabin. I had just gotten all dolled up too so I had to re-dry my hair when I got back. Harri and Jimbo, Bare and Sin are all going out on the pontoon boat today, like yesterday with all their kids in tow. We were invited but that is just way too many people on one boat for me and too long on a boat with not facilities save for the lake. I had a little too much to drink last night for that to be an option. I can't stray too far from nights like that and I really don't know how they do it especially since they don't even remember much of last night. I had three shots of tequila and that was quite enough for me although I really didn't get drunk last night, at all. Very weird. On the other hand the others were LOOPED! I can not do that every weekend, no way. Eventually, that will catch up with you as I have seen it in my parents. There is a problem when half your car is loaded down with liquor for the weekend and you, as adults have jello shots in you refrigerator for the college kids. NOPE not for me. The Hubby and I left a little before 10 because we wanted to have some time to ourselves as I have been "out of commission" for about 5 weeks and am now "back in commission." I think we slept for nine hours last night which is what I need.

This week I will start back to workout, which I am missing so badly. I will begin Jazzercise again and then next week add the personal trainer again. I'm going to add it slowly to allow my body to get used to it again after being so ill. This weekend I will read and write and sleep and rest.

Temp 87 degrees feels like 95

I just finished helping my friends Sin and Harri put together the community Labor Day breakfast and whew am I bushed. It is 87 degrees here but feels like 95 according to Weather.com and I truly believe it. We decided to be down at the wigwam about 7 to get things setup after spending yesterday afternoon chopping bell peppers, onions and fruit and scrambling eggs, 10 dozen. The biscuits were pre-made and the gravy you just add water and cook so it really wasn't too bad. Oh and the bacon was done in the microwave 20 pounds. I'm not very hungry right now. It was fun though. I was up at 6:30 to shower and will have to have another shower to rinse off the sweat we worked up feeding all of the 50 or so who showed up. Really I don't think we had that many but that was the total signed up to attend the morning festivities. It is done and I have contributed my services for the year and won't have to do it again for another year. I think I'll just go back in my nice air conditioned cabin, take a cold shower and then a big fat nap and then maybe I'll read later. Tonight is another party of hamburgers and fries and Bare & Sin's and the can throw some kind of shindig! I'm hoping to not have to do anything else this weekend but sleep, read, blog and write for the rest of the weekend. I need to finish getting my rest and keep in good health.

On a final note, the MIL finally closed on her house. HAPPY DAYS! It has been on the market since last October and we are so glad to finally have that burden lifted and carry on with our lives and for her too.

Best Laid Plans-Mucked Up

My plans have again been mucked up and The Hubby is not helping the matter, AT ALL! His birthday is the 23rd, also A is coming into town to visit so I had planned a huge family dinner in honor of both and for the joy of him being okay after the harrowing accident. I planned a bash at the lake on Saturday with friends and then Sunday a family dinner. My email just ringy-dingyed me and it was from the daughter of his best friend. She is going to be in town for a visit with her new little baby (#2) and so they are having a family do on Sunday with all of their extended family from across the continent. The Hubby is an honorary member of their family since he and Kel have known each other since they were 5 years old so we ALWAYS go to their do's. Now I'm in a quandary because The Hubby is like, "I told you I didn't' want a big party anyway." He wants to go to the other family do too. So I guess I will have to change all my plans and reschedule the family thing to Saturday and have a little do at the lake on Friday night. Best laid plans all mucked up!

The lake is very quiet today. There are not a lot of people here to cause a lot of ruckus. The possibility of rain is here as the clouds are overcast and uh oh I feel a few drops...better put the neighbors umbrella up to protect the laptop. We are hosting a little get together tonight with some other cabinites that we don't usually pal around with. We are cooking a chuck roast on the grill. Yes it can be done in about 40 minutes and it is delicious. Marinate it overnight in a plastic bag in: cooking sherry, vegetable oil, white wine vinegar (1/4 cup each), garlic, basil, Worcestershire sauce (2 Tbls each) and lots of Louisiana Hot Sauce. Grill for about 20 minutes on each side and it is like the poor mans steak for a lot of people. My sis-in-law, who doesn't cook, gave me the recipe. I'm also doing my famous sweet potatoes. I peel, cut up in chunks, like frying potatoes and coat with a little olive oil and jalapeno salt (check out Fiestaspices.com) and a little Splenda (or sugar)-about 1-2 tsp. then bake in a 400 degree oven till a little brown and tender, about 20-30 minutes give or take. Yummy

Monday Morning and I'm Not Home

It is Monday morning and I'm not home. In fact, I didn't go home yesterday. I stayed another night at the cabin and I'm certainly glad I did. The evening was pretty quiet up here as most everybody went home from the weekend. There are mainly the residents still here. I had dinner with one of those couples and it was very pleasant. I didn't stay long but opted to go to Sin and Bare's along with Harri and Jimbo. They had been out on the pontoon boat ALL day long and were exhausted but were having dinner and sitting around the fire. I joined for a brief time but was soon home about 10 to watch the news. I didn't make it long for the news as I fell asleep on the couch and woke up about 11:30 and hit the bed. It was such a cool evening I turned the A/C off and opened the windows and turned the fan on. This morning is crisp and I'm actually sitting at the neighbors deck using the other neighbors Internet connection with a jacket on.

The sounds of the morning here are just incredible. I hear the birds, all kinds of birds waking up the world here. In the distance I can hear cows bellowing to be milked and dogs baying at something they have seen. The only sound of humans is the very distant interstate where the cars are making their early morning commutes. Now that it is after eight the workmen have descended upon the area to work on some of the remodeling that is constantly going on up here. The hammers, drills and saws have started their sing-song for the day. I can really do without that. Now I can hear one of their radios blaring through the nature sounds, breaking the solitude that I have found here.

Across the road at Gary's cabin and his neighbors cabin there is a crazy red cardinal that is constantly bashing his poor little head against the windows. He has done this for months now, back and forth from one picture window to the other. I think he sees another male cardinal and is doing the territorial thing. It goes on all day long and will probably kill him. Poor thing. They should hang a piece of cardboard or something in the windows to send him on his way for a bit. Tap, tap, tap, SMASH, there he goes again.

I'm really thinking about staying for another night but not sure if The Hubby will go for it. I know he likes me close and I mean close to the office but I'm totally enjoying my time here this week and I know that won't last as this weekend approaches. He had better just let me alone anyway as I have the dreaded "Curse" and am really not too pleasant to be around. I can't believe how utterly depressed I was just before it started this week. I just didn't think about that as it was January for the last episode. Maybe it will be another 6 months or even, if lucky, a year for the next one, but I don't know if I can manage the deep depression that comes with it. Oh my goodness, I felt like I was a teenager again. YUCK!

Spring has sprung!

Here are some beautiful pictures of spring at the lake.

I was so lucky to get away from it all on Thursday and enjoy the solitude and beauty of the cabin but yesterday I paid the price. The Hubby had hired a local guy to weed-eat and mow and general outside activities around the cabin. I was off on the golf cart enjoying a glass of wine with a friend. I finished the visit and glass of wine and hoppped on the golf cart and as I rounded the corner and approached my driveway there I saw my car. I started crying, "OH NO, OH NO, OH NOOOOO." My drivers side window was smashed. The weed-eating guy had hit a rock while mowing and it smashed out my window. I'm was so mad and so sad that my pretty little car was damaged. I quickly looked at the doors and sides to make sure they weren't damaged either but was lucky. The Hubby wasn't here yet but my neighbor Jimbo, the other half of "Harri", was here and I ran to his cabin and was distraught. I was really more angry at the whole thing. My major complaint was that I just don't have time on Monday to have it fixed and I flashed to my very full schedule on Monday, boogers!!!!! I didn't sleep well as I was thinking of the window all night long. It just makes me so very mad but not much you can do with it. And then The Hubby reminded me that when I drive home tomorrow I can't put the top down on a beautiful 80 degree day because the windows automatically ratchet down and there may be glass in the mechanisms. So I will drive with the top up and the window down all the way. Crap!!!

I think I'll get my IPOD now and take a very long walk this morning and enjoy the sounds of the birds and breathe the fresh air and get it out of my system. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Imagine

Here I am at the cabin on a Friday morning and I'm loving it. I didn't have to do payroll today so yesterday I took off for an extra day of privacy and beauty. Luckily the neighbor has an Internet connection that I can latch onto here. Yesterday afternoon I got up here before the storms started but about 7 pm the deluge hit. My neighbor and good friend "Harry" was undecided whether she should chance it and in between storms started here. I knew when she was halfway here and that she was being hammered by the torrential rains that hit. She finally arrived a little after 8 pm and I helped her get her two little dogs inside and then she helped me dry out my drenched clothes while we sipped a glass of wine and waited for the rain to stop so we could we could unload her car. At about 9:30 there was a lull and we unloaded and then it started again. I told her I was going back to my cabin before it hit again...good thing too. Our cabins have connecting back doors so it's not far but there is usually a lake in between.

Today as I was looking at my emails I got one from Classmates.com and this past few months there have been 13 looksees at my page and low and behold they are all from guys in the class before me. Hmmm...I must have been hot or something...I will have to download a pic sometime and let you judge. Imagine my surprise. I was so shy back then but so wanted to be liked and I think I was pretty hot, maybe I was. OH wait I found one. It's a little dorky but underneath the robes is a size one.

Rest and Relaxation

This week has just flown by after all the rushing around from last week. I haven't accomplished much as I have been sick most of the week but as of today I'm finally, Finally, feeling better. I took off for the cabin early Friday to get a head start on the beautiful weekend. When I arrived it was very quiet and I laid down for a nice nap. I wanted the weekend to be a time for me to heal and energize my body again. We had a quiet night Friday and had a quiet dinner of grilled rib eyes for dinner then bed about 9 pm. I awoke at 8am and knew by looking out the window at the blue sky with white puffy clouds and bright sunshine that it was going to be an awesome day. A quick cup of coffee to encourage the body mechanics and a Slim-Fast down the hatch I prepared for a long walk. I had been on the exercise wagon for most of the week as I was just not well. I took off about 9 am walking fast with my IPOD on towards the wigwam. I couldn't go very far as the creek was up over the roads so I had to change my normal pattern of walking. I ended up walking up two HUGE hills and when on the flay asphalt part of the walk I jogged a little. I spent about 90 ". I made my famous bacon wrapped dates and we hopped into my little red car to the wigwam. The food was all heavy appetizers and the wine flowed abundantly. Two bottles down The Hubby and myself. Whew. The DJ was family member of the birthday girl and the music was not country but mostly disco!!! My favorite. I danced and danced and danced in my borrowed too small boots. The Hubby and I danced some of the swing we had been practicing and I really got into the disco dancing. My hair was dripping with sweat by the time the evening ended. It was over about 10 and we made our way back to the cabin and bed. I woke about 2:30 am and couldn't go back to sleep, tossing and turning for a good hour. Finally I dozed off about 3:30 and slept till 8 am. I rested this weekend and partied this weekend. It was a perfect time.
