Sunset

I took a wonderful ride on the golf cart last night and enjoyed a beautiful sunset...

The water is down over the dam but still very, very high.  At least the wigwam (community building) didn't flood this year, so far.
The ride was by myself.  I was feeling a bit lonely and sad and had the feelings a hurt a bit.  I'm fine today!  Friends are coming tonight for dinner which means I have a TON of work to do today.  The screened porch is NASTY with pollen so I have to move all the furniture out and scrub it off along with the floor.  Then I promised to go play a bit of Texas Hold 'Em at 1:30.  I had better run and get busy if I am going to do that.  I can already expect an allergy headache after the cleanup!
Update:  I am NOT a lottery winner.  Rats...I just knew after my fortune cookie yesterday:
"Life is a series of choices.  Today yours are good ones."
A couple of weeks ago I received this one:
"You will inherit a large sum of money from an unusual source."
I just knew this was the day for the big one, but...

The Hubby got this one yesterday too:

"You shouldn't overspend at the moment.  Frugality is important."
Rats...ruined my chances I think!

Mega Millions

I'm watching the news this morning and the big news on GMA is the lottery, the BIG lottery.  Do you participate in the lottery fever?  It's kind of infecting I must say.  I have only bought a lottery ticket in my life and that was with my Dad and Sis with their help.  It's one of those things I don't really understand and am a bit fearful about going in and plopping down money for.  1 in 176 million chance of winning the big one, $540 million with it to rise bigger, bigger, bigger because of all the people putting in more money.  I have to get gas this morning and I just might, might buy one.  How about you, do you?

Fifty Shades of Grey

Again I am going to write about this book, Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James.  I attempted to read this dang thing and failed miserably.  I am not a prude by any stretch of the imagination and I rarely stop reading a book but this one, yes I did.  I've been thinking about it again because I found out the thing has been opted for a movie with possibly Dakota Fanning or Shailene Woodley as Anastasia and possibly Robert Pattinson as Grey.  It is described as "mommy porn," but I beg to differ really.  Again, I am not a prude and don't mind the sex stuff so much but the degradation of Anastasia in this book when we as women are trying to hold on to what we have fought so hard for, our rights.  Really!  I know I didn't finish the book and should not have an opinion but I draw the line at S&M and a man telling a woman what to wear, what to eat, when to sleep, etc.  That book should NOT be touted by women, really,   Are we back to letting men club us on the noggin' and draggin' us around by our ponytail!  I THINK NOT!

Hair-a-Go-Go...uh...No No!

My, my, my the beginning of my history of hairdo's.  Some were not the best idea for sure.

This one was pretty.  I love this picture.  I think I was about 4 years old.

My first grade picture.  Mother was not kind to me.  That would be a permanent in front and the back was long, down to my waist.  She hated to take care of it.

I belive this was 2nd grade and Momma decided to even it up and add more perm.  EGAD!

Not sure what to do with it here.  A headband is always a good choice.
Yes, this was a home haircut.  The bangs were NOT even by any means.

ICK!  Check out the white lipstick.

Finally, I was able to wear mascara.  The era of little ribbons! 8th grade I believe.

9th grade...I forgot it was picture day and had greasy hair.  A girl standing in the picture line with me helped me make it presentable with a little "ratting".  Didn't turn out too bad.

My favorite era.  Long hair!  It was where it was at and I'm attempting yet again but will never be able to get it that long again.
My Glamour Shot snapshot but really was my photographer before GS was even a thought.

A brief try at utilizing a bit curl that has tried to appear in my forever straight hair.

Kind of the way I wear it now.

Wedding hair for B&B's wedding.  It may not have been all that smart a hairdo.

Again the usual style.

Hope you enjoyed the evolution of ME!

A Scanning Fool - Part 3

Oh boy did I love that my father was a Boy Scout leader. Here are a couple I went out with!

Awww, there is Bro, me and Sis.  We're holding our cousin's puppies.  I think the one Sis is holding we took home.  He was our sweet Pisan.  Like the kitty Momma loved to name our animals words we could not even spell.

Me at the lake, our usual hangout growing up.

Awwww, here we are again.  Must be another Easter.

Us and the puppies, oh and there is cousin Martha.

Greatgranny's dog, Sandy.  We kids loved this dog.  He was our protector.

Finally found a fairly good picture of Polly.

The infamous vacation we took traveling through New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas.  Funny or really not so funny story.

See the camper to the right, well we took that vacation in that camper.  We three kids traveled in the camper shell while Momma and Daddy were in the cab.  We had our pomeranian, Bunny with us.  The story:  That truck was old, well, I thought it was old, sure is now.  It was not meant to go up the high roads in the altitude and one day as we were trying to make our way up, up, up to a camping spot the thing gave out.  Daddy, at the wheel had to back down, or rather it started going back down by itself.  He weaved and bobbed while we were in the camper.  Things started falling out of cabinets and off of cabinets onto our heads and we were tossed back and forth.  When we finally came to rest it was a nice green flat place and Daddy grabbed a beer, smoked a cigarette and then went to bed.  He was terrified and in turn totally ruined me on any kind of mountain and most car travel.  I'm better.

Again, our usual place most weekends when we were young.

My sweet girls...they were so angry in this picture that I'm surprised it turned out at all.  I love it though.

My pretty tow-head.  Wasn't (isn't) she a beauty!

A, playing in Granny's garden.

Review

I'm late in posting today, sorry, but I have a pretty good excuse.  We of course have been to the cabin and enjoyed the wonderful weather but hit the ground running early this morning because B and I planned to go see The Hunger Games at 10:30 this morning.  The Hubby went too, which was nice.  I have to say I liked the movie and I think they held to the book fairly well.  Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss was perfect.  After the movie we three had a bite of lunch and then parted ways.  B and I went to Persimmon Hollow to check out the Made In Oklahoma stuff.  I didn't wear the right shoes for walking!

Now to the book I tried to read.  On Good Morning America last week they were talking about the new "sensation" in the book world, "Fifty Shades of Grey" by E. L.  James.  I thought, "Great, a good book to read."  Well, I got started and let me tell you I was gasping.  That darn thing was, well, it was, uh, can we say whips, tying up, domination over women.  I just could not stomach it and deleted it off of my Kindle Fire without finishing it.  I NEVER do that but in this case.  Maybe there was more if I had finished it but my main objection was the absolute domination of the main character, a woman.  I have a real problem with that.  So be warned, just because it tops best seller list, beware!

Spam

Spam...blog spam...I recently changed my comment moderation to having them be approved from the kind you try to figure out what the letters are.  It is amazing to me how much spam I am getting.  What in the world.  Do these spammers really think I'm going to click on some link to nude pictures or buying a product or whatever.  It is an absolute waste of my time to have to deal with this crap.  It's much like the telephone.  For nearly 30 years of our married life we have had an unpublished phone number.  When we moved 6 years ago The Hubby decided that we should have it published, in case someone from his high school days wanted to get hold of him.  Such a HUGE, MONUMENTAL MISTAKE!  Nearly the only phone calls we get are politicians - political, surveys, or my favorite, "The Law Office Of Blank for Blank who is not even close to our name.  And when you call the number back from "The Law Office of Blank" they have no idea what you are talking about, or your phone number does not appear on their list.  Yet, the phone calls continue daily at different times of the day.  It is frustrating and apparently making me very angry.  For the record, if I am home during the day, I may not answer the house phone because NO ONE calls us at home during the day unless it "spam" phone calls.  Can you tell I'm a bit ticked off by it all!

Hairspray

How's everyone's spring break gone this week.  It has been a real soggy one here for sure for the kiddos.  I've taken the opportunity to get some home time under my belt and a tad of painting.  I even started up the exercise regime again and today I'm a bit sore.

While doing the picture scanning thing, which I will continue next week, I found this picture of my momma's Beta Sigma Phi group.  I used to babysit for some of these ladies and even date a few sons.  Check out the hairdo's!  Lots of ratting and hairspray and one of the pic's I didn't scan, the lady sported a cute little bow right in front.
Then we have this little cutie (me) with no ratting or hairspray...just long, long, long straight hair.

A Scanning Fool - Part 2

Johnny Weissmuller - Again I have found more of the pictures of "Tarzan".  Daddy was the manager sporting goods department of the Oertles store here in Tulsa, which is long gone.  He put this event together together and was able to get Mr. Weissmuller there.  We kids were so excited.
Awwww, this our little momma kitty, Susie.  She was such an awesome cat who had three litters of three kittens each time and on the fourth litter had five.  Mother put a stop to it and had her spayed.  The fifth litter yielded a wonderful cat we kept. Momma named her Pagliacci and we pronounced it Pollyiatchi.  Mother loved opera and it was supposed to mean something about clowns and Polly was so ugly she looked like a clown, or so mother said.  We loved that cat.  Susie was the best mother cat who had no bottom teeth.  Her tongue would slip out of her mouth and she drooled as she purred.  She had some kind of a worm when she was a kitten and lost her teeth.  Didn't stop her from dragging in field rats for mother.

Daddy at his desk at Oertles.

My strong Daddy doing chin-ups on his honeymoon.

Oh, this is the picture I have been looking for.  It is from Daddy's high school days.  Probably years 1952-53, the annual Junior-Senior fight in some mud area around the coal pits I believe.  He is dead center with the t-shirt #43.

I'm not sure who this is but believe it is my great-grandfather, Grady, and maybe my grandmother.  It is old and faded but I LOVE it!  It's like a postcard.

Awww, Daddy!

My Granny (Momma's mom).  I can probably count on my fingers the times I saw this kind of laughter out of her.  Amazing picture for me.

EGAD...I so remember that look from Momma.  I believe she DID NOT want her picture taken.

Brother and I after he caught this huge catfish at the boy scout camp, Camp Scott.  I so remember that day, except it could be Daddy caught it, I just remember standing and having out picture taken.

Sweet girls.  Niece N, Zipper and our A

Beautiful B

My brother and B...love it.

Grandpa (Daddy's dad) and B!

B and Tippy!  Such a sad story about that little dog.  It was given to Grandpa because he love Chihuahua dogs, but the people lied the kind and it was too big and too much puppy for Grandpa.  B loved it so they gave him to us.  Our neighbors had Akita dogs and one day their female Akita broke through the fence and you know the rest.  It was awful and so sad.
OH MY GOODNESS, I think I have lost my breath!  I am reminded one reason I fell in love with this guy!  GORGEOUS!

Brother with Great-granny's dog, Sandy!

Daddy and A

Mother-in-law's...Granny, Momma and Grandma!

Two of my very favortie people, Granddaddy and Granny!
