What's all that wet stuff?

Remember the Bambi movie?  "What's all that white stuff," Bambi says.  His mother replies, "Winter has come."  Well, today it is RAIN!  Rain has finally come to our area of the state and we couldn't be happier.  It has drizzled off and on all day on Saturday and was a welcome sight.

We flew off to the cabin Friday afternoon to check on things and take some hunting stuff in preparation for the hunting season.  We only stayed overnight as he needed to get back for some stuff needing done at the house.

Back home I had forgotten we are now parking in the neighbors driveway for a few days as I look at a dirt driveway.  The Hubby is getting it ready for the concrete pour on Tuesday, heat tape, etc.  I can't wait!

While he piddled around working I decided to sit on the new COVERED patio on a few of the new Pier1 chairs I purchased and tables.  I fixed myself a cup of tea, read the paper and my Kindle and enjoyed listening to the drizzle of rain.  The chairs are just some of the outdoor furniture we have purchased and more is on its way when the drive is complete.  Don't you love the table!  I bought three of them with the Pier1 chairs for accent and color!  Can't wait to have it all complete and share the snapshots with everyone!

The Real Me

No Makeup
I have been asked by many who know me, what I do to my skin to make it so great.  I am sure it is about 90% genes in my favor and that I still have my hormones raging (as of June, and I'm 56 years old) and so much oil in my skin you could drill!  The wrinkles are at a minimum but the age spots are there from my youth cooking the skin but it's not bad, even if I say so myself.

The picture above is fresh out of the shower with absolutely nothing on.  See the shine and that is freshly cleaned...the oil never stops, but it is my friend I guess.

I am a Mary Kay user and have been for many, many years, even selling it at one time, so I am a fan, but I do have other things I use to help the "cause."

Step 1:  Wash.  I've used a multitude of cleansers from Mary Kay TimeWise 3-In-1 Cleanser to now I'm using

Odwant Dermalogic Glycolic Acid Soap that I found on Amazon.  It has made a difference in the size of my volcano pores.

Step 2:  The extra mascara that doesn't come off after washing I use is Mary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover.  It is awesome and has been #1 for some time now.

Step 3:  Next comes one of my favorites.  Mary Kay Indulge Soothing Eye Gel with Calming Influence Botanical Blend.  It soothes and takes puffiness out of the eye area.  You leave it on and kind of helps the tightening, for me.  I use it all around the eye area, lid and all, every single day, twice a day.

Step 4:   I use Skinceuticals C E Ferulic serum that I purchase from the dermatologist, or Amazon.  This stuff is not cheap but is great for the anti-aging and protection from the sun.

 Skinceuticals C E Ferulic 30 Ml./ 1 Fl.oz

Step 5:  Back to the eyes.  I use Mary Kay TimeWise Firming Eye Cream.

Step 6:  Again Mary Kay Day Solution with sunscreen, SPF 30.

Step 7:  Another one of my FAVORITES and I think the best for my eyes.  TimeWise Age-Fighting Eye Cream.

I adore this stuff and slather it under and around the sides of my eye area and let soak in.  It feels like silk.   TIP:  When working around the eye area, only pat and only use the ring finger of the hand.  That finger has the least strength and won't do as much damage.  NEVER...EVER...pull or tug the skin around the eye.

Step 8:  Off of the Mary Kay kick, the youngest daughter started me on Aveeno's Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30.   Again I love the silkiness of it on my skin.

Okay now I think I've covered it all.  Keep in mind the hands too.  Whatever I put on my face I put on my hands too.  Your face and hands are the parts of your body that are always in the elements.  They both need protection, and don't forget the ears.  Even though I have oily skin it is important to keep it moisturized too, the right kind.  My grandmother used Ponds and Dove soap for her skin and her skin was just like velvet.  No matter what you use, use something.

Friday And All Is A Wall Of Concrete

Good morning everyone this beautiful Friday morning.  My life is nothing but concrete lately, and I mean that literally!  The back outdoor kitchen/patio is very close to done.  I won't have any more pic's until it is done.  The stain guy is finished and will pull up the protecting paper and then that darned electrician (The Hubby) will finish his work.  The outdoor furniture is ready to be delivered and I'm pretty darn excited about that, but...The Hubby has now decided that the driveway needs to be replaced.  So while I was at the office yesterday he texted me and said, "They've started the demolition."  WHAT!  I went home and was forced to park in the street and then at the neighbors as they are out of town (thank goodness.)  It's a big dirt pile in our front yard and will be for at least a week as The Hubby is going to put in snowmelt under the drive.  That means no shoveling ice and snow!  YEAH!  That being said it also means a longer time to get the thing done so I will be lugging groceries up through the yard and through the front door.  Will this madness called construction ever end.  Yes, it will eventually.  On a good note the orange, seemingly permanent fixture, called the Porta-Potty is GONE!  It went bye-bye Wednesday just before my new book club members arrived!  Another WHEW!

Last night we went to a friends 25th Anniversary celebration of being in business.  It was at the new Central Park facility on 6th.  Fun to see a lot of people we knew and a blast from the past.  A guy I went to grade school through high school with, plus I picked up another book club member!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Book Club

I was needing a group so I started a group.  I belonged to a book club a few years ago but it fell apart after about a year and a half.  I've been reading tons the past couple of years and decided that I wanted to be able to discuss what I was reading.  I compiled a few friends from my email list and began the process.  Some of these friends did not know each other and so a new group of friends would be formed.  We planned on getting together last month but as you know my house was NOT ready to accept people over, so, a month later, we met at my house last night.  There were only six in attendance as some were preparing for school starting the next day from elementary to college moving in day.  Next month we will have more.

It was a busy day here at my house in preparation of company.  My cleaning crew was here at 9:30, the window-covering-lady and the brother-in-law were here at 10, the concrete guy to check out the backyard and the prospect of the new driveway and then the concrete-stain-spraying guy, the fence-bidding-guy and The Hubby...all at once.  OH MY GOODNESS!  It was crazy here.  What a crazy day.  Finally, they were all gone, it was quiet and my house smelled awesome and looked GREAT!  I was ready, wait I still had to go to Papa Murphy's for pizza, Whole Foods for veggies, and Lambrusco's for dill dip.  Off and running I was going.

Home again, a quick bite of lunch and more quiet time in front of the easel.  I had time to think about how I wanted the evening to go.  I've never done something like this and I was apparently a bit nervous as my tummy began to start tumbling a bit.

They arrived, we ate and discussed Fifty Shades of Grey.  A rousing discussion was great fun.  Some had not read it but that didn't hamper the talk.  What a fun evening and we quickly set up the next one with excitement.  Some of the ladies knew each other and some didn't and we all have the love of reading, a great start.  It was actually a bit hard to find a book we had not all read for the next read.  We did find Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and will have about 4 weeks to get it read and the discussion to begin!

Relaxing

Friday night was a quiet night in town.  I enjoyed a mango martini from a kit a friend got me for my birthday and it was YUMMY!

Clayton decided he wanted to enjoy his evening on a high perch, the back of the couch.

Yesterday afternoon we sat outside enjoying the much cooler temperatures.  I watched as Clayton meandered around the yard and then decided he wanted to go high again.
See in the picture below how high he really decided to go.  That is one brave doggie.

Cooler Monday's

The weather is a changing here, finally!  They are predicting that we won't hit the 100's again this year!  Already it is fabulous outside sitting on our new patio.  We were successful in purchasing the new outdoor furniture but it won't be here until the stain guy does his work.  The Hubby finally got in touch with him and he said he would be there this week!  I certainly hope so.  Clayton loves to go and sit on the new brick wall and soak up the sun.  He's ready to get his yard back.

I spent the afternoon yesterday sketching.  It's funny that last week at art class I had nothing to paint, yet I started and finished the sunflower later in the week.

Then yesterday, I started sketching this cute photo of my great grandparents holding my great uncle.  I have several of these sepia toned old family pictures and am planning on a whole series of them.

Typewriter Memories

I watched the CBS Morning Show this morning and Bill Geist reported on the Typewriter Renaissance.  I thought the story was so interesting.  It took me right back to learning to type at the age of 13 or so.  Mother had an old fashioned typewriter, I think a Royal, green, in a case.  I used to get that thing out and she still had her typing book from her few classes at TU, so I taught myself how to type.  The book was a beginner typing book and I typed like a breeze on the thing.  I practiced and practiced,

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

Over and over again I typed that sentence and the practice runs from the book.  Plus her typewriter had the manual hand carriage, so when you got the end of the sentence or heard the ding, you reached up with your right hand and slammed it back to the front of the next line.  Over and over again I typed...ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ 1234567890....over and over again I practiced.

When I finally went to high school I was ready for typing school.  First day of typing class, and I had two years, I walked into the room and there they were, typewriters, and entire room of either Smith-Corona or Royal machines, waiting to be hammered on and now manual hand carriage.  I thought we would just learn to type and since I already knew how to type it would be a breeze, NOT!  We learned how to type but we also learned how to type letters, papers, envelopes, the proper ways to type, what secretaries do.  Wait, I didn't want to be a secretary, did I.  Well, it was a career and I had no other prospects for a career except to work at the local five and dime store.  For two years I typed away and learned how to do the proper stuff, still have my little handbook for the different types of addressing envelopes and letterheads.  I don't know if the information is of relevant use anymore but I still have the book.

When I finally graduated, after two years of typing and a year of shorthand, also self-taught some.  I was NOT ready to be a secretary, but the experience helped when I got a job at the local credit bureau.  We used CRT's and my typing skills came in very handy.  I loved that I didn't have to use correction paper to fix the mistakes.  You could just back up and correct as you went.  I flew on that keyboard.

When we began our business we had to buy a typewriter, because computers were not happening in the everyday office yet.  I typed out invoices, one line at a time, over and over again.  I HATED IT!  If I made a mistake and they were many, The Hubby was not happy.  Mistakes are not happenin' in his world, but I had to "educate" him to my world, mistakes HAPPEN!  Gosh, I had to type each line of invoices that had over 200-300 items listed and he listed everything.  EEK!  Sometimes I would rather just write them out and I did.  I typed that stuff out for nearly 15 years when we finally went modern and got a computer and a program, Quickbooks! It was AWESOME!  Yet, still I type out each and every piece of material we put into a job, from a generator to the tons of wire nuts or ground screws that are put into the project.  I type, but it's a couple of keystrokes and the line fills in!  Is it no wonder that I have issues with carpel tunnel sometimes.

Do you have typewriter memories?

Saturday This-n-That

It's Saturday morning, early, like 6:30 and I'm up.  Tried to sleep in but the carpel tunnel would not let me.  We decided to stay in town this weekend and just do stuff in town.  It worked out better anyway as B has another baby shower and she kind of wanted me to be there.  I am glad to go!  The Hubby and I thought we would use today to go shopping for the outdoor furniture but we got with it yesterday and found some.  We/I have been to several stores and online stores looking for just the right thing.  Jack Wills, Sam's Club, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Seasonal Concepts, Mathis Brothers, finally we went to Amini's Galleria yesterday.  That was our final stop and lo and behold the best selection for what I wanted, and they were having a sale too, like everyone else!  I would have pictures but my phone-camera, even though I emailed them yesterday, still has not come through.  (Have got to update this dang phone!)  We bought a glider love seat, two bouncy easy chairs, round dining table with two swivel chairs and two regular chairs, three bar stool chairs and a cafe style small round table-red.  It is to go with the Pier One chairs I bought a few weeks ago, faux wicker and brightly colored!  Woo Hoo, I'm so excited!  We don't have them yet because the concrete is not stained yet and we are waiting for the concrete-stainer-guy to get back to us.  Almost done!!!!!!

Well, that is just all I have to say today.  It's still hot but this morning is glorious outside.   Everyone have a great weekend and I will be back tomorrow...hopefully with more to say!

My Life, Such As It Is!

Good morning, good morning, good morning.  Just typing letters to get the brain going in the thought process today.  It is Friday and I'm glad.  Honestly it has been a rather quiet week with the construction still ongoing, slow but progressing.  The painters have been here off and on all week, painting the ceiling and beams in the patio area.  We've met with yet ANOTHER fence guy trying to get our fence replaced.  We have called numerous companies that will not even return our phone call.  The Hubby says our job is too small.  I told him that is ridiculous because, "IT'S A FENCE!".  That is what these companies do and they should not turn down a fence yet the ones who come out say we have too much foliage or plants in the way.  I told The Hubby to tell them that whatever they break or crush is just fine, we're redoing the stuff anyway.  I WANT A FENCE!  I want a fence, especially a gate so Clayton can't get out.  I think yesterday we found a guy, a friend that does this stuff that is really, really busy with a kitchen remodel but will come out and at least get the gate done and then will come back and do the whole fence when the kitchen job is done.  I am just fine with that.

Now The Hubby and I have been looking for some new outdoor furniture.  I want to get it done and bought because everyone is having sales NOW!  We've been to several places and today will check out another one that I think may be the best bet.  He's afraid that if we buy we can't store it because the concrete has not been stained.  I say by covers and put it in the yard!  We need to act or we will miss out on the sales and having him pay full price will kill him!

Awww, my life, what can I say, small problems I know but it is my life!

The Day After

Yesterday started out so weird and bad that I was not hopeful for the rest of the day, but, in fact it turned out nice.  I should have gone back to bed but instead I blogged, painted, read blogs and worked on an artist resume.  I kept busy.  I played with watercolor, a medium I am not familiar with...
and then back to the oils, my comfort zone.
It's not finished but a really good start.

My Wednesday

My Wednesday so far...
this is how I feel this morning.

I woke up about 5:23 and realized that my phone alarm did NOT go off.  WHAT...I usually leave the house at 5:35 for workout.  Well, I begin to rush.  I jump out of bed and put Clayton down to hopefully wake The Hubby up that had fallen asleep on the couch.  I put on the workout gear and go into the living room to see the lights still off so I guess I had to feed him!  I told The Hubby he would have to take Clayton outside (we still have no gate so we have to accompany.)  I fixed my coffee while Clayton was eating and then he ran for the door and The Hubby was still in the bathroom.  Well, I guess I will have to take him.  So I turn the outside light on and open the door!!!!  EEEEKKK!  The alarm, I forgot to turn the alarm off.  I was still asleep but not after that.  I shut the door as the alarm is blaring and Clayton is staring through the glass door from the outside at me petrified.  His little beady black eyes were filled full of fear and confusion.  I rush to the keypad and turn it off and then run to the cordless phone to await the alarm company call to give them  the all clear.  I took the phone out back with Clayton and realize that the sprinkler is running.  That dog hates the sprinkler or rain so will NOT go to the grass area to do his business. I decided to take him out front on the leash.  As we go in the alarm company calls and I give the info they need and proceed to leash up Clayton and call Wade to let him know I will NOT be in for workout because by that time it was 5:45 and my stomach was in knots.  So Clayton and I took a walk and I calmed down and got my brain awake.

How's your Wednesday starting?  Mine is off to an alarming start!

Movie Time

I DID IT AGAIN...writing and then blank my page went blank.  Everything I had been writing for 20 minutes gone!!!!!  My hands are getting lazy I guess, laying on the keyboard and I hit a key that makes everything I have typed and spilled out of my brain is GONE!

Again, I will try...

This past weekend after making the peach cobbler I decided to watch an old movie on my KindleFire.  I selected Spencer's Mountain.  If you have never seen this movie, you should.  It has Maureen O'Hara, Henry Fonda and a young James McArthur.  It is based on the book by Earl Hamner.  Does that name ring a bell, well it should.  Spencer's Mountain spurred the television series, Walton's Mountain, my all time favorite television show.  In the movie, instead of John Boy there is Clay Boy, played by James McArthur, YUM!  The movie and the television show is about family and how they love and hate each other and living during hard times.  How they make it despite all the hardships that can befall a family.  The movie, Spencer's Mountain, has one scene where the elderly father is crushed by a tree and I cry, SOB every single time.  Like a baby I cry.  It is a fabulous movie and one of my favorites.

When done with that one I was not sleepy late Saturday night so while The Hubby slept I watched Please Don't Eat The Daisies, with Doris Day and David Niven.  Really I think they could have cast a better leading man as I didn't think the meshed well, but I love the movie and she sings a song...Please, Please, Don't Eat The Daisies....sing it with me...Cute movie and I finished it yesterday morning.

I am feeling a bit nostalgic in wanting some of the old movies, the good feeling ones.  I yearn for that time, the 50's and 60's.  What's some of your favorite movies?

Sweets for the Sweet

The topic this month at NaBloPoMo is "Sweets" and I think yesterdays peach cobbler fit that bill to a "T".  Today they ask, "what is the first candy you ever ate," but I may have been too young to remember the first one.  Here is a "sweet" memory I can remember.  Momma didn't really allow too much candy in the house,  the only sweets we had were what she made, from homemade cinnamon rolls, red velvet cake, homemade donuts, you know, a childhood of the fifties.  Now on the other side, my Daddy's family, candy, soda pop, cookies anything sweet that could be bought or made was there, all the time.  Friday nights when we had an bit of extra money Daddy would either take us to the store, or when it moved in across the street, we would walk.  We bought chocolate covered malted milk balls, chocolate covered raisins, ice cream and malted milk powder to make our own milkshakes.  It was heaven.  Now that I write this I believe the first candy would have to be the chocolate covered malted milk balls and raisins.

When we went to Grandma's house (Daddy's momma), there were always bowls and bowls and BOWLS of candy just sitting around.  Coffee candy, candy corn, suckers, candy bars, every kind of candy imaginable.  In one of her cabinets there were liters of Pepsi, Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, Orange Crush and Strawberry Crush and there was ALWAYS vanilla ice cream in the freezer, gallons of the stuff, for floats.  When B was little and we went over there to visit it was all I could do to keep Grandma from giving her candy.  I didn't allow her to eat candy for a very long time and Grandma just didn't understand.  It was a tough visit.  Grandma had a horrible sweet tooth and her purse always had candy in it, Juicy Fruit or Double Mint gum being the main thing.  Those gum smells take me back to sitting in church and rummaging through her purse for a stick of gum.  When she died they found bags of candy bars hidden in her closets and dresser drawers.  (Grandpa was a diabetic, FYI.)

Daddy used to work in the movie theater and the kinds of candy bars he exposed us to were Cherry Mash (with a real cherry center), Zero bars, Milky Way, Three Musketeers, Heath bars, etc.  Three Musketeer and Milky Way bars were also a memory from the other side of the family.  Great-granddaddy always had those two candy bars in his dresser drawer and there were a ton of kids hanging around in the afternoon, bored.  Greatgranny would sneak into his dresser while he was napping and grab one candy bar.  She would cut that candy bar into bite size pieces, how ever many kids were there would get a bite.  If there were three then three, but if there were twelve there would be twelve bites and we were satisfied.

Baby, It's Hot Out There

We arrived at the cabin yesterday afternoon to be faced with this!  Oh my goodness, Oklahoma is burning up and I do mean that literally right now as they battle wild fires.  Honestly, one little match would annihilate this whole area and most of Oklahoma.  The drive up was very sad.

I filled the feeders this morning and waited...

...waited...waited...and what shows up...
...this dang red wasp.  I guess they are hungry and thirsty too!

I sit out early and enjoy what little cool air,  funny, cool air...really here.  It's like lukewarm early morning air. Tomorrow they are predicting about 73 in the morning.  That would be comfortable for sure.

Hair, Pie Crust, and Errands

It's another one of those ramble days.  I really didn't have much to do today and planned on staying home but ended up spending most of the morning out an about before it got too hot.  I went to pick up four of the scanned paintings and take the fifth one to be scanned.  Then to Ulta for hairspray and some hair clippies...yes, the hair is finally growing out again and I can put it in a ponytail or up with clippies.  Off to Whole Foods for some salmon and goodies for the weekend but I will still have to go to the "regular" grocery store for Crisco.  Can you imagine making a pie crust without Crisco.  I have been asked to make a peach cobbler for the cabinite gathering and need Crisco but the only I could find at Whole Foods was every  kind of oil you can imagine.  I'm sure there is a way to do that but I am making my Greatgranny's pie crust and I have to have Crisco (she used to use lard).  Okay, here is the recipe...it is in my memory forever and so easy:

Greatgranny's Pie Crust

1-1/2 cup flour
1/2 + cup shortening
1/2 tsp salt

Cut into little bits with a pastry cutter or two forks

Add 1/4 cup cold water (could be less or more depending on the consistency of the dough)

Divide into two balls one for the top and one for the bottom or one for a large cobbler.

I them will brush with a little milk and sprinkle sugar on top to brown and give a nice sweetness.

I am known for my pie crust!  Comes with love from my Greatgranny (and Momma)!

A Wordy Wednesday Ramble

This is just a Wednesday ramble of crap that is rolling around in my head and wants to spill out today!

Monday I had planned on having lunch with the mother-in-law and take some of the million books I was weeding out of my stock to her retirement place!  But, after loading them all in my car and getting all cleaned up and ready to see her she called.  She called to let me know that her retirement place did not want them like she thought.  She did give me the name of a guy that might buy them or just take them off my hands.  (She also canceled lunch for another time and I will explain later.)  So I went to his dusty and very quiet store and told the studious man what I had in my car.  He slowly stood up and said, "Let's take a look at what you've got."  We went out in the heat and he started just going through the piles in my backseat while I waited.  He got about half of the books and put them on the curb and said, "How about $20."  I said, "Sure."  He, unfortunately, did not want the rest to just take, so I'm left with still a pile of books to find new homes for.  After that weird encounter I was off to shop for outdoor furniture.  I found that some of the places have their outdoor furniture OUTDOORS!  A hot day, and after several stops I think I might have found something but there was only one and I NEED The Hubby to take a look.  Everyone is having sales and a lot of the stuff is limited.  I ended up back at the office to do a bit of work then home.

Tuesday, yesterday, I got an early morning text that B was not well and would be in late to the office, which meant that I had to go into the office.  So I quickly took a shower after my workout, got the art stuff for class in the afternoon and headed to the office.  While wheeling my art bag of supplies through the living room I bumped into one of the three olive jars I have sitting by the fireplace.  That one tapped another one just right and popped the center belly out of the dang jar.  Rats, will have to try and glue back.  (Casualty of the day!) I have to say that when I left the house at 5:30 yesterday to workout the concrete guy was already in his truck in front of our house.  Wow!  They were to pour yet another area of concrete that The Hubby decided he needed at the side of the house.  Whatever!  I worked till about noon, B brought a wonderful sandwich for lunch and then I was off to art class.  I finished yet another painting and enjoyed a great day of laughter in class.  I LOVE that class!  After class I hit Pier 1 for some of their faux wicker outdoor chairs that were on sale and filled my car with six of them and three little tiled tables for the new patio.  Home and unload!  Whew, HOT!  Home, the concrete guys were at the side of the house, by the A/C unit (that plays in the story later) and cutting the fresh cement with the diagonal pattern The Hubby wanted.  Inside I checked my emails, loved on Clayton a bit and sat to catch my breath.  The Hubby was not far behind but was outside checking the new part.  I forgot that the MIL called while in class to invite us for dinner at her retirement place.  I told her I would talk to The Hubby but when I called him he said, NO!  He was to meet a fence guy (yeah) at the house at 5,then had to go to the flip house to repair the A/C unit that he found out had been running non-stop-since-when-we-don't-know!  He said it was like a meat locker inside!  Dang, that electric bill will be awesome!  I ate a quick bite and then headed to get my hair done.  I've been rescheduling that appointment so many times that I had an inch of gray showing!!!  Back home The Hubby was washing the sidewalk by the A/C unit.  He told me that the A/C inside was not working and that it had been rising up to 75 inside!  YIKES!  He called the A/C man and he came right out to find that all the concrete dust that they guys cut had clogged up the filters in the unit.  Cleaned out and running good.  The Hubby fixed the A/C unit at the flip house, I walked Clayton and then I was READY FOR BED!

What a day.  Today I forgot I have to work this afternoon as B is off for doctor appointments and I finally am getting the house deep cleaned from all the construction stuff.  Have you ever cleaned your house for the house cleaners?  BRB........................
.................
Well, that is what I have done this morning.  Actually, I have picked up the mess so they can clean the dirt, but I'm already exhausted.

Proper Etiquette and More

A question from Conflicted in the "Ask Amy" section of the newspaper this morning gave me the idea of my topic today. Her main question was whether her friends bad actions in public could influence her children.  That aside I was more intrigued by the action itself.  When they go out to dinner with said friends, the friend orders water then proceeds to serve themselves from the "self-serve" soda fountain.  She called it a theft.  I totally agree and would never, ever do that but I do know some people that would.  I think that is just plain WRONG.  It's the same when I go to multiple movies.  I will watch the first movie, then walk totally out of the theater and buy a ticket for the next movie.  I know that people do not do that most of the time, they will just walk into the next movie like they have a ticket.  Again, I think that is WRONG.  Am I an oddity, no, I follow rules, I am law-abiding, I am fair, I am trustworthy.  How can you take advantage.  To me it goes back to the small stuff you are taught as a child, or that I was taught as a child.  You never butt in line, you say "thank you, please, and excuse me."  Manners and rules!  Sunday while I was pushing furniture around the living room I had the television on to TruTV called The Principal's Office, honestly I could not stop watching it and it was on a marathon run.  It was different high schools around the country and the crap they have to deal with in these kids of today.  Let me tell you the attitudes of most of these kids were appalling and I don't think I could have put up with the crap they were doing.  Really parents is this our future or, "hopefully", it is just a few out of millions that happen to make good TV.  I so hope that is it because if not, we, as a culture are in very, very big trouble.  Really, you should watch some of the episodes and see.  For those parents who think their precious little Tommy or Sarah could do no wrong, WATCH!
