Step One

Step One:  Hang pictures.

The Hubby finally was able to start hanging the pictures in my messy room.  See the cat in the middle.  That picture was in my room (shared with Sis) for our entire lives and when I moved out, 35 years ago this month, it came with me.  I have always loved that picture and it hung in our girls rooms too.  My mother painted it.  Now, let me explain that it is not an original put a paint-by-number on canvas that was rolled up.  That picture is at least 60 years old and I love it.  The bottle and tomato on the right was done by Granny (Mom's mom).  The one on the left I don't know but I like it.  And of course on the easel are some of my paintings, unfinished and my goal to paint while on break has not happened.  Tomorrow is supposed to be the first day of class.  Hope it happens.

This one is a print that I bought for the youngest, A, and it hung in her room for a long time but she didn't want to move it.  I love it too and it is appropriate for me since I love books so much.  It is above my chair that I sit in all the time.
Now we come to my art.  This wall will house some of my art and it will change occasionally, according to what I sell (HINT!!!).

This area is above my desk/table.  The shelf is flanked by two book shelves and originally a bed slid under the shelf but since it is my room it houses a table, my desk.  Those are my diplomas:  Associates-Business Administration, Bachelors-Organizational Leadership, and Dale Carnegie certificate (worked hard for that one too.)

Today, since it is black ice kind of stuff means that I'm staying put.  I guess I could go to work, maybe later but this morning while the roads are iffy, I'm in.  I don't want to be the guinea pig on the roadways at 5:30 in the morning.  I'm supposed to take Daddy to the hip doctor but hey, not making a new hip guy have to try and walk on black ice.  Besides it is supposed to start snowing later.  If I don't have to get out in it I WON'T!  This may but a hitch in my workout time but I'm just not going to fall and break a wrist or something.  A friend of mine, a few years ago, stepped out of her car at the movie theatre onto black ice, slipped and broke her knee, OUCH!  That would be me if not careful.

Today I will stay in and finish cleaning up the room, that is my plan.

Come On Baby Light My Fire

This week I've been on fire in more ways than one.   I've started Weight Watchers and I've amped up my exercise regimen.  I've also been busy trying to overhaul "my" room.  I want to hang some pictures that have been amassing around the room so I can get more space and get rid of the dust bunnies.

That would be a dust bunny!

Messy, messy room.  See above the table, on the shelf.  Those are my college degree thingy's and I have never hung them.  They are to go there and that is what the plan is this week.  I've cleaned under that table and now the stuff is piled on top of it ready to sort.  I'm in the mood to TOSS OUT!
Today I'm finding a sunny corner in the breakfast room at the cabin to blog and try to maintain my everyday thing here.  It's quiet and very cold but I plan on reading, journaling, napping and enjoying the wonderful fire in the fireplace.

Nothing At All

I really have nothing at all to say today but felt the need to at least post something.  I'm getting up there in blog posts, I think 823 or something like that.  This month will also be my 4 year anniversary of blogging and Friday (June 4) will be my 54th birthday.  Lots of stuff going through my head right now about age with the impending B-day.  54, that is just a bit too close to 60 and I'm not liking that at all.  I will just have to continue to exercise and live life to the fullest and do what I want to do.  I want to read, enjoy the hammock, have fun with friends, paint, enjoy the family, do what makes me happy.  Happy, healthy and content will get me hopefully get me a longer life.  I think that this should be the second or third or fourth phase of my life and I hope to live it to the fullest.  I was thinking about this yesterday, about the phases of "my" life and they may be different for everyone else.  I had the younger years with Momma and Daddy and Bro and Sis, the formative years.  Then it was on to the newlywed years (3) before we dove into the children years.  The children years go on for the rest of your life but there are stages there too, baby, toddler, school, young adult then adulthood.  Now I'm into the empty nest and all about me years.  I like all about me.  Haven't had that and I'm still struggling to fine tune the all about me.  It's kind of hard when you have a partner that has to be included in the all about me phase and that is just fine as long as he is working with me to achieve it and vice-versa.  Oh I am ramblin' today I see.  Think I need another cup of coffee to get my mind running straight.  It is a Monday on a Tuesday.

Friday is birthday and this month I have to renew my drivers license.  Think I'll wait till the gray is covered for the picture.

Aching feet and hands!

The renovation is in full swing now.  I spent two days at Daddy's packing up his living room and bedrooms, cough, cough, cough.  My poor hands and feet are paying the price I can tell you. I've lost nails and today they are covered in Kiltz paint. My feet are absolutely killing me from standing and up and down off of a step ladder.

Daddy's  (and Momma's) treasures...

It's a Burt Reynolds jigsaw puzzle that she had and we totally forgot about...I warned you to close your eyes.

Now it is all packed up and put in this...

Then we were left with this....

Bye Daddy

Don't get too upset.  I'm saying Bye Daddy as he has decided to go live with his sister halfway across the country for 6 months.  He has informed us that he will begin his journey Monday, early.  I'm as excited for him as he is himself.  I think he feels like it might be a new beginning of sorts.  He's had $600 worth of work done on his car to ready his drive.  He has forwarded his mail to my house so I can pay his bills (I have his checkbook).  We were able to stop his newspaper for 6 months online.  He's getting ready.  We, the family, or least those who were able at the last minute gathered at his house on Thursday night for a farewell dinner.  I went by KFC and picked up a bucket of chicken and we had a lot of laughs before the big day.  He took The Hubby around the house showing him stuff that might be done and me many closets and cabinets that we can clean out.  Yes, we have told him that we are planning to rent a POD and load all of his furniture into it, clean out the house.  We, The Hubby and I have offered to repaint and carpet while he is gone.  The house, his home, my former home has been lived in by him or my grandparents for over 60 years.  He and Momma were the 2nd owners next to Momma's parents.  Pretty cool.  It was a house of a smoking family (NOT ME) so the walls are, well ICK!  They also had animals that viewed the carpet as grass.  Again, ICK!  It is an old house but it is his home and was our home.  We want to get it back and close to sort of new for him before he comes back.  He's completely rehabed the yard, getting rid of all the flowerbeds that Momma insisted she wanted so now it is time to clear out the house.  I kind of hate it but it is his home now and he should have it like he wants it.  He doesn't care what we get rid of at all.  I think it is just too overwhelming for him to think about dealing with.  There are closets that have not been touched in probably over 25 years and I think I will purchase plastic gloves to deal with them, spiders you know.  He has also asked that we have it fumigated and I told him that we would probably have to get rid of all the kitchen stuff in the cabinets and he was fine with that.  I'm telling you ICK!!!  It's really kind of exciting as it will be a project and I love a good project but be prepared to not hear from me regularly when we start the project.  I just feel that doing this now will help when we, my brother and sister and I, have to sell the house when he is really gone.  We're just getting a headstart.  Maybe I'll have pic's.
