Ribbons And Cheers

Well, I have had a very eventful past couple of weeks in my art world.  Finished some stuff and started some stuff!

I finished this lovely on Tuesday and haven't even got a title yet.  

Then I got going on one of many cats and dogs I'm doing for gifts. 

Plus this one has begun in class! 

Finally...drum roll.........

Last night The Hubby and I drove to McAlester for the SOFA-Southeast Oklahoma Fine Arts Juried Show and I walked away with THIRD place!  Oh my gosh, there were 90 entries in all and that included, fantastic sculpture, oils, watercolors, graphite, photography and acrylics.  I TOOK THIRD!  Wow, wow, wow.  I was shocked but so thrilled and it's a money prize too, not much but it's something.  What's cool is my friend Linda took Honorable Mention and another from our group in Tulsa Artist Guild took Best In Show with a sculpture.  I can't tell you how excited I am especially with this painting as it just seemed to happen by accident and I ended up loving it but not sure anyone else would.  It was validation for me. 

The Versatile Blogger

Oh my I have been honored with an award.  I've not had one in a long time and this one is kind of fun.  Miss Cindy from Cindy's Clipboard has bestowed it on me.  The rules are simple. 

To accept this award I have to:

• reveal 7 truths about myself  (Kind of hard as I'm pretty much an open book here anyway.)
• select 7 blogs that I would like to share the award with (May not do this but will open it up to anyone who wants to take part.)

1.  I always, without fail, ALWAYS put my left shoe on first. 

2.  I have a pen pal that I have written to since 1972.  He was originally from Pakistan but now lives in Canada with his wife and two grown daughters.  Love, love, love to write letters.

3.  I'm basically a lazy person.  I could sit with my laptop, a journal, a few good books in one spot for an entire day without getting up except to use a facility and feed my face, and I've done that.  I'm very good at being lazy, just doesn't get much accomplished.

4.  Used to suck my finger until I was in the 7th grade and the ONLY reason I stopped was I got a funky retainer that prohibited me from sucking.  My mother tried everything to get me to stop.  Oh, and my sister revealed it to my best friend for spite, it devastated me.

5.  I love to watch witch, supernatural, vampire shows and movies.  I stayed up all night long one time to watch a Freddie Kruger marathon.  My favorite shows are Charmed, Supernautral and Angel.  I'm a fantasy girl too.

6.  Hate milk.  Hate to drink it plain.  I can use it in cooking or on cereal but no plain.  In fact, if there is a jug in the fridge that is over two days old I can't even use it on cereal.  ICK! 

7.  Used to love to collect poetry books, old, very old poetry books.  I even collected it in high school from friends who used to write it for class projects and stuff.  I probably have stuff of theirs they have forgotten about.  I would ask for their papers when they would toss them out.  I have an entire notebook of  it.  I don't write poetry but I so love it.

Happy 101

My blogging friend at Yogi's Den gave me a Happiness Blogging Award.  I'm so very honored and it has come just in the nick of time as I've been dry as a bone with words and ideas lately.  It also gives me a reason not to be sad as I've had some sad news from a friend who is now battling cancer.

Mish, mash of stuff

This is a quick mish mash of stuff today:

First Thank You very much for the sweet award, One Lovely Blog Award by Georgie from Decisionally Challenged . I am truly honored. I will try and follow through with the requirements shortly.

This weekend we boogied out of town to our little retreat. I accomplished finishing a book, started another and The Hubby fished, fished, fished his little heart out. It was hot and we shared a lot of wine and laughter with friends. I'm just sharing some pics from the weekend. Enjoy all.

Oh, and I rushed back Sunday to meet a couple of friends to see Julie & Julia! Has to be top of my list of favorite movies. I loved it.

Now...Honest (S)crap...

1. I always put my left shoe on first. Not sure why but I am a smidgen superstitious.
2. I love watching Charmed and can't hardly make it through a day without at least trying to watch (It's on 4 times a day. M-F). I've seen the episodes so many times I could probably recite the lines word for word.
3. I own all seasons/episodes of Charmed, The Waltons, I Love Lucy and The Andy Griffith Show.
4. I'm the worst procrastinator there ever was. If you saw my "room" you would truly understand.
5. I want in the worst way to be published but even more to get paid for it.
6. I have a mad crush on Chris Botti, Brad Pitt and Tom Pelphrey.
7. I want, REALLY bad to be a BAD girl. Not bad wise but just once I would like to buck the system instead of always being "Little Miss Goody-Two-Shoes" like my brother and sister always called me. (NEVER GOT INTO TROUBLE-NEVER)
8. I have to pluck chin hairs nearly every day to keep them at bay.
9. I have a pen pal that I have written to for over 38 years and have never met him.
10. I love fresh sliced tomatoes, Miracle Whip and peanut butter sandwiches.
