An (Old) Experiment

Yesterday while I was sipping my second cup of coffee and enjoying the morning I was thinking of trying something new yet old, posting everyday!  Let's see how that goes.  I've done it before for about 6 months but WHEW, that was a challenge.  Going to try it again since this is the 10th year of my blog.

Oh my goodness, what is that glow coming through my window yesterday morning!  Could it be....
SUNSHINE!

Yup, it was a beautiful sunshiny morning as it was the day before but yesterday morning even more so.  I decided to PAINT...wait...
I had to get Snicklefritz's momma to come get her first, I think.  Well, maybe not.  She's seemed content to sit in Granddad's lap watching shows about restoring old cars and things, boats (big, BIG boats) and guns and history.  Figures, but hey, she was quite content.  So...ONWARD!

It's Been Reported

It has been reported that the PATHOLOGY is clear.  Yes, yesterday I went to my two week post-op appointment and the report was fantastic...NO CANCER!  I was so thrilled I could hardly contain myself.  I felt sure there was none, but there is that little voice in the back of your brain that just keeps needling, "they said 30-50% chance, 30-50% chance, 30-50% chance."  So I was a very happy girl yesterday as I left the doctors office.  I still have to go back in four weeks but I'm healing and doing very, VERY well.  Still no lifting over 8 pounds and NO SEX yet, understandably.  I'm going to take full advantage of the rest he said I still need but I feel GREAT!  I will have to start watching Snicklefritz June 1 so I need my energy.  It will only be a couple of hours a couple of days a week, and I think I can handle that.
Sunday and Monday were just beautiful in our backyard.  I thoroughly enjoyed just sitting, laying down, napping and soaking up the sun.  It's very healing for me.

And look what is blooming in my garden next to my tomatoes!  Are they just beautiful.

Sunshine and Paint

Yesterday was AWESOME!  Yes, quite awesome because I got to work all day at the office.  What is good about it you ask.  Well, I will tell you, WINDOWS!  Yes, after 30 years of no windows we now have windows and yesterday was sunshine all day long.  I couldn't be happier about that.  I got a lot done with a lot more to do later this week.  After several years of not doing Christmas cards for the business I am gearing up to do them again.  That will be a lot of writing but well worth it to our customers.

Last week I took yet another art workshop with artist Derek Penix.  This will probably be the last class I take with him.  He is so, SO very talented but he is young and I think he is still searching on where he wants to be in his art journey.  Maybe we all will be searching forever.  The first class I took with him I was terrified and the last time I was in his workshop I left so frustrated and angry that I wanted to quit painting.  Actually, last time he painted so much on one of my canvases that he should have signed it.  This time I felt really confident in my ability and where I am in my journey.

This painting is what he demoed for us and the less he put on the canvas the better I liked it.  Oh I kept saying SOLD.  He kept putting more paint and it was better.
I don't think it is finished but I so loved it.  I own several of his paintings I don't really need another...

Anyway, this is what I did on the first day and I have to say I love it.  It was from a picture when The Hubby and I took the Fall New England tour a few years ago.  This was a beach in the Acadia National Park.  I tried to paint it but ended up using a palette knife on most of it.  LOVED IT!

Rainy Days and Sunshine

It's Sunday morning, 6:44 a.m. and I'm awake, at the cabin and content.  I'm not sure what more I can say.  It has been a very peaceful weekend with the on and off rain showers, reading, visiting with friends and just quiet time.  I thought I would bring my paints this weekend but as it turned out en plein air painting would have been a bit WET.  It's funny that it would be sun shiny and rain at the same time.  Made stuff a bit steamy I must say.

This was actually a video but can't figure out how to make it a video from my phone show up here.  Anyway, there is sunshine in the picture and rain!  At least I have my wonderful screened porch to enjoy it.  My poor birdies went hungry as I have forgotten to buy food for the feeders.  Next week, I promise!

Yesterday I slept in to 10 am.  That is unheard of in my world.  I usually am up before 5 am.  It was quite glorious to sleep in.  It was quiet as The Hubby went to town with some of his play friends for breakfast.  The fan, me, Clayton and a comfy bed, I was in heaven.  Of course, this morning I'm up early, but that is quite alright.

A Painting Sort of Way

I have been a bit quite here this week but that doesn't mean life is not barreling along for me.  We had yet ANOTHER snow here the past weekend which kind of shut stuff down Monday and Tuesday.  Even though I knew my desk was piled with invoicing at the office on Monday I decided that I was NOT going out.  I actually did not even leave my house from Saturday to Monday.  That was quite nice I must say.  I spent that time painting!

This one I just had to paint.  It is NOT finished yet, just blocked in with a bit of color.  I've got to fix Mondo's inside eye.  Anyway, this is our little Rio and her best friend Mondo.  I just love the photo of her hugging his neck.  The Hubby, when I showed it to him said, "It's the back of her head." I replied, "Yes, because painting the back of a head than painting the front."

This one looks sort of like another one I painted but a tad bigger and I LOVE sunflowers or daisies (whatever they are).  This one is not quite finished here.

Was kind of in an abstract state of mind here.

But mostly, I enjoyed the sun that was streaming through my window.
(Yes the classes are crooked mostly because a paperclip is holding the earpiece on and my ears are a bit lopsided I think!  Anyway, SUNSHINE!!!!!!  That is contentment on my face.

This and That

Life is just kind of running together in a ton of days and nights for me lately, but I have to stop sometime and take a breath.  The beauty of a few of my moments...
Sunrise on Tuesday morning as I rolled into the parking lot of the workout place.  It was about 5:45 am.  Isn't it just beautiful.  I just had to capture it.
The Hubby installing the heated floor stuff for the new bathroom area.  It will be awesome.  Flooring is picked out along with the marble for the shower and countertops.  The backsplash I'm in love with and yesterday got to go wallpaper shopping for the small water closet area.
Did take a break to try my hand at some abstract art too.  I kind of like it.  What do you think?

Under The Tuscan Sun

To chase all the cold and dreary blah's away I have decided to watch one of my very favorite movies, Under The Tuscan Sun.  I chose this movie because of, One, the word sun in the title, and, Two, of the fact that the movie exudes warmth and renewal, at least for me.  I watch the movie and sometimes wish I could start over, but not without The Hubby mind you, but us together, maybe retirement!!!!!  Maybe not start over but a change of life.  The place, Tuscany just makes my happy.  I have never been to Italy and am not sure I could tackle some of the high places like in the movie, but oh my gosh the beauty I could do for sure.  I am hoping that the next European vacation we can take will be to the Tuscany area.  Stunning.  Could be the red wine I'm drinking and the need to be very, very far away from this snow, but I am enjoying this movie immensely.  This movie is about growth, change, life and love.  I am for all of these things.  What do you think.  I may have to watch this movie a few more times in the next few days.  A ray of sunshine coming through my television is just what I need.  Think I'll go give my husband a wonderful kiss!
