Art Happenings and Bedroom Rehab

I have some EXTREMELY good news.

Sooo, very excited and honored that my painting, “Orchid and Glass" juried into the Artists of NW Arkansas 24th Annual multi state Regional Show. It's my first time in the show!
The show will hang from Sept 6-29th at Art Ventures, Fayetteville , Arkansas.

Folks, this is a fantastic feather in my cap to finally get into a national show of sorts.  I may not win a thing but getting juried in is a BIG DEAL!  What's even crazier is it was juried by a big dog in the art industry, he actually took time to LOOK AT MY PAINTING!  Gives me goosebumps.  What's really wonderful is that I took this photo in my bathroom, I sketched it and I painted it in my new studio without benefit of a classroom type setting, all on my own.  Much like the Lady with the Red Rose, which I won in the MORE Color show last month.

The wedding is fast approaching and I mean FAST, but I think we have everything in place.  Invitations have been sent, invoices paid, dress and such bought, cake, food....so much goes into doing this thing and Afton has really done an amazing job from California making it happen.

Some more is happening at the house.  This room WAS my studio but I've just using it as a junk room and where I watch TV and computer.  Since I've moved out of this room I wanted to make it a bedroom, a guest bedroom again.  The problem was this built in book shelf thing that was mostly covered with junk and my TV.  I wanted to put a bed there but if you did and sat up you would crack your head on that dang shelf.  Well, yesterday The Hubby ripped it out.  He's already spackled and is, at this second sanding in preparation for paint.  I am going tomorrow (I hope) to buy a bed, probably a queen, then order sheets, frilly stuff...

This is what I have in mind.  Can't remember if I saw this on Pottery Barn, Dillards, JC Penney's, Saks, etc...rats.  But this is what I envision in there.
