Trying to find inspiration for a painting is kind of hard sometimes.  I may have a great photo but the desire to paint it may just not be there.  I've had this photo for at least a year and yesterday I just HAD to paint it.
I finished it and shared some of my process and progress on LIVE on Facebook.  That is kind of scary sometimes, but fun.

More inspiration, hopefully...

This one was started in a workshop/class and the photo is not mine but Gil Adams, our instructor.  I don't usually paint from other photos but it's a class.
It's been sitting on my table for a few weeks now then I decided I wanted to finish and maybe change some stuff on it...

I added flowers that were not in the photo and the truck and I think I love it, as did others because it is already SOLD!

Barrels and Blooms

Good morning.  Rain, rain, rain, last night it was lots of storms and rain.  I know we have been in a drought but really, it can stop now.  The ground is just water logged at this point and there is more coming this weekend.  It's hard to get inspiration photos to paint with the world being soggy.

Finally, I finished this one.  I'm not sure of the title yet but may call it Ol'vine, after the restaurant I took the photo at.  A working title, from a friend, is Barrels and Blooms.  It's a 30x24 oil.

I've been watching a lot of painting videos on YouTube lately, trying to get inspiration from other artists.  I found this guy in England, Michael James Smith that is quite amazing to watch.  If I can't sit at my easel everyday I am trying to at least do SOMETHING artsy to keep my mind in the zone and I think it's working.  I look at the world with different eyes, constantly dissecting everything I see into a possible painting and how to do it.  I WANT to do this all the time but my life is not supporting it.  Way too busy.

Movie Star...NOT!

First of all I want to invite you to this...
Looks like I'm a movie star, right!  No, but it is the viewing of the short films the Jenks High School film class has done.  If you want to come and VOTE for me, my short film, please do!  It's really an honor to be one of many that was chosen for this honor.  I sure hope I didn't say the wrong thing in the interview!

I'm on another project on my easel.  I took this photo at a local restaurant, Ol'Vine (was Sonoma) on Brookside.  So loved the photo and knew it would be a great painting.
So it began.  I started this at home and didn't have time, after 2 weeks of it sitting like this, to continue.
Finally, I took it to my usual Tuesday class and continued it.
So far it is a huge hit with everyone who sees it.  In fact, my instructor even hinted he would love to have it if he had the wall space.  It's not small, like 20x24, I think.  There is still a lot to do but I am very happy with the progress.

Yes It's 4 a.m.

Yes it is 4 a.m. and I am awake.  Here it is Saturday morning and we are in town this weekend and I could sleep in but Nooooo!  I am awake at 4 a.m., not even the usual time of 5 when we usually get up.  What is WRONG with me!  First it is my sciatic nerve acting up then my mind started whirring and I am AWAKE!  Crap!

This weekend I plan on painting, painting, painting.  I have just not had time to put the attention to some stuff and I have a lot of competition/shows coming up.  Unfortunately, my friend Linda and I got our "DECLINED" notices on the American Women of Art online juried show.  😞  I told her that it's the first time we've actively put ourselves out in the national arena and it was good experience and we always have the next one to enter, which is what I am about to do.  We probably will get hundreds of rejections before acceptance.  There are so many artists out there in the world.
This early A.M.  I am going to enter into another national competition and we will see what happens.

The pink roses is one I actually started a couple of years ago but it was so bad it was in the pile to burn but I have a show coming up in Broken Arrow, again, and it is the roses thing, again.  I saw this in the garage and decided it could be redone.  So I totally repainted it, background, vase and roses.  I am going to touch up the leaves again this morning a bit but it will be done and then I will do another something because we can enter two paintings.

I went to Whole Foods yesterday and bought flowers, flowers, flowers.  Maybe today I will make them show up on the canvas.  Can you tell I'm a bit obsessed with pink lately!

P.S.  Update on the ill people in my life.  MIL is getting better.  She was over her infection but had laid around so long, not eating or drinking that it took a toll on her 89 year old body.  NOTE:  When older EAT and DRINK no matter if I have an appetite or not!

Bro is getting better, slowly, no pneumonia, but a case of the flu (yet again) and bronchitis, which he battled many times when he was a young lad.

Good Ju-Ju Needed

I need prayers, good vibes, wishes, WHATEVER can be passed on to heal from afar.  Not for me, but my sweet mother-in-law has been battling a bacterial lung infection (I think pneumonia) and my brother is on round two of the flu and bronchitis.  They seem to be constantly on my mind and I am extremely worried.  So I'm putting out the call for every bit of good ju-ju I can get to help them.  My dear MIL is 89 years old and has always been in great health but this is taking its toll on her.  She's the only one left of her siblings and she feels lost with that.  I think she's been depressed and this illness is really working bad stuff on her.

Thank you friends.

Flowers and Cows

Flowers and cows you ask...well, that's what's in my world this week and weekend.  So enjoy.
